Free Stuff, and not so free stuff
People always ask me what stuff we've moved through ezColumbia and personally I've given away printers, scanners, monitors, phones and fax machines through the Classified's Free Stuff section. In many instances we received multiple requests for items we listed. I think people like getting free stuff and we encourage our visitors to promote the idea that it's better to give away stuff that's still useful instead of just throwing it away.
I've recently seen car seats that looked like they were still in good condition being thrown away in our neighborhood. I know that most people discourage purchasing used car seats but if these are well taken cared of, it could still serve another family well. Our second child is using the same infant carrier that her older sister used and when she moves to a booster seat, she'll be using the same one her sister is using now. And when you give away stuff that's still in good condition, not only does it save the person receiving the item from having to buy one, it's also good for the environment because that's one less item being thrown into the landfills.
On a sour note, here's a recent story about a free stuff hoax posted on Craigslist. It's pretty sad that someone will do this and it just shows again how people just love getting free stuff. We have a similar flag system on ezColumbia so if any of you find a malicious posting, let us know and we'll immediately remove the posting.
